Material Behavior, Damage, and Surface Treatment

Development of behavior and/or damage models integrating directly or indirectly observable physical parameters across the three major material families: metals, composites, and polymers.

Themes to be developed include:

  • Characterization & Mechanical Modeling of Surfaces and Interfaces.
  • Surface and Interface Morphology.
  • Rough, Three-Dimensional Contact.
  • Mechanics and Damage of Materials in Relation to their Microstructure.
  • Behavior of Metallic Materials under Aggressive Environments.
  • Development of Specific Experimental Approaches Associated with a Modeling Framework.
